About ShiftResume
What this site is
ShiftResume is a free information library of resume guides written specifically for two groups that mainstream career advice underserves: shift workers — nurses, support workers, carers, drivers, cleaners, guards, hospitality and warehouse staff, FIFO crews — and career changers whose experience doesn't follow a single-industry ladder.
The site publishes worked resume examples with the reasoning shown, keyword guides based on the language real job ads use, and practical framing advice for rosters, casual work, agency placements and career breaks. Everything is free to read, with no accounts and no sign-ups.
What this site is not
ShiftResume is not a resume-writing service, not a job board, and not a software tool. We don't write resumes for individuals, and we don't guarantee interviews or employment — no honest site can. Our examples use fictional people; they're templates for structure and wording, never documents to submit as your own.
Who runs it
ShiftResume is published by Ali Hassan, based in Australia, working with a small editorial team. The site grew out of a simple observation: the jobs that keep hospitals, warehouses, roads and care homes running around the clock are exactly the jobs generic resume templates describe worst. Our guides are written from the employer's side of the desk — what a nurse unit manager, a labour-hire consultant or a rostering coordinator actually scans for — and grounded in the official sources listed on our editorial policy page.
How content is researched and corrected
Each guide starts from primary sources where they exist: AHPRA and the Nursing and Midwifery Board for registration, the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission for worker screening, the Fair Work Ombudsman for employment rules, Safe Work Australia for safety context, and established Australian career resources such as SEEK Career Advice and Workforce Australia. Pages show their publish and last-updated dates, link to their sources, and are revised when the underlying guidance changes. If you find an error, please contact us — corrections are part of the process, and our policy for handling them is public.
How the site is funded
ShiftResume is free to read. It is funded by advertising displayed on the site and, in some articles, affiliate links to products or services we mention — always disclosed, never a condition of coverage, and never at extra cost to you. Funding never buys placement in our examples or changes our advice. See the editorial policy for the full disclosure.
